Building a Community of Women Who Are Seen, Heard, and Empowered to Believe in Who God Says They Are!

What's the belief behind
The Open Cup?

Defying the invisible lids...

We have learned what it means to FILL OUR CUPS and we meet weekly to BE FILLED together but what if there is more.

Author, Tashena Anderson-Place has been spiritually given the next step to evaluating our cup of life...

LIVING WITH AN OPEN CUP

The concept behind this name is that we often ask for our cups to be filled but while doing so we place invisible lids of doubt, fear, rejection, shame, our past experiences or any type of limitations on the cup. Although others can't see the mess that is happening all around from the overflow, our hearts, minds, and spirits can.  She wants to give people who join this journey inspiration to lead lives with their lids off.

We can all become an open cup but keeping in mind that the cup will always need to be filled and evaluated.

She also wants everyone to feel confident about the possibility of saying YES!

Yes to purpose!
Yes to new outcomes!
Yes to confide
nce!
Yes to hope!

Inspiration from our Host and Community Leader, Tashena Anderson-Place

How often do we take intentional time to reflect on how far God has brought us?
I know before I became the Fill Your Cup girl I would dread thinking about my past.
Often we get so good at suppressing what has happened that we can block it out or better yet, box it in. What we forget is that often there is power in
what we've been through because without it we wouldn't have learned valuable lessons that have brought us to where we are now.
I wonder how often the enemy checks that corner of darkness that is hidden to ensure it is still locked?

Could you imagine what would happen if you took control of that box and
put it under the authority of Heaven? Could you imagine if you considered that hidden thing or things covered by the blood of Jesus?
If not, that is exactly why I feel God is calling me to bring this community together. Sometimes facing the hardest things in our lives is better when we can do them in unity.

As many of you know I have had a strong leaning towards The Passion Translation of the Bible over the last year.
It has been such an eye opening experience as I've embarked on my journey of saying YES.
During my studies on the word Renew, I was pulled to Acts 1. In my Bible, ACTS has the subtitle, "To the Lovers of God."
Jesus was walking along with his disciples teaching them more about the truths of God's kingdom.
In verse 4, Jesus tells his disciples to not leave Jerusalem. They were
to wait until they received the gift that would be sent from the Father as promised.
There is something special about when our Father promises something.
We can always take it as truth and believe that it is so because of His love and faithfulness.

Jesus goes on to explain that although John baptized them with water, they would now be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
My hope is that through this event we will realize that the gift has come and we are now proud holders of what they were awaiting.
I believe that the living water that Jesus spoke of comes from the pouring of the Spirit who can fill any break,
remove any drip of doubt, and renew us from the inside out.

Jesus promised twice from verses 4 to 8 that they would be seized with power.
Not just any power but the very same power that is resurrection power.
They would then be charged as messengers to take the good news past Jerusalem,
throughout Judea, to distant provinces, and even the remote places of the earth!

We are the messengers. We are the vessels. We are chosen. We carry the light and the hope for tomorrow.
Together we will ask our Father for renewal of our minds, hearts, and spirit. So that we can pick up the baton..
Not for us but for those that are awaiting our YES..
In our homes, in our communities, at our jobs, and wherever our feet may land.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer, and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  - Philippians 4:4-7 NIV

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, ad as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:10-11 NIV

As I read these scriptures I couldn't help but think of all that God has brought me through and how much I didn't deserve it but He gave me his goodness and mercy anyway. He knew that what was in me was greater than anything that I could ever ask, think, or imagine. I often reflect back on the life that I was building for myself. The one where I was in this world and of this world. I catch myself ready to say," Look at that disaster, look how much time you wasted, look at how selfish you were." The list could truly go on and on but I have learned to capture those thoughts immediately and place them at the feet of Jesus. I almost immediately begin to feel a mood shift. There is just something about the realization that we can rejoice because that story was not the end. We have a new found hope and salvation. One that is enough to fill us now and in the future. My heart could almost explode thinking of how God saw us and said we are good, Jesus saw us and said I have to do this for them, and the Holy Spirit lives with us everyday helping us remain connected to them both.

When we set our hearts and minds on Him, we should be dancing on the graves of yesterday and explaining that that person is no more...WE HAVE NEW LIFE on this side of Heaven. No it won't be roses and rainbows everyday, Jesus said it wouldn't be but isn't it worth it in the grand scheme of things.

My hope is that the more we meet together and speak of His goodness, you will realize what is truly available to you. We don't have to wait to praise, we don't have to wait to feel love beyond measure, we don't have to wait for a seat at the table...we already have a seat just for us. Let's rejoice together!
